Content calendar template

Updated on October 28, 2026

Publishing regularly gets much easier when ideas do not depend on the day’s inspiration. This calendar keeps ideas in one place, lays out the week’s posts with date, channel and status, and records what has gone out.

Content calendar · November

Channels: blog, Instagram, newsletter
Frequency: 2 blog posts and 3 Instagram posts per week

Idea bank

  • How to store cake so it does not dry out
  • Behind the scenes: a day in the kitchen
  • FAQ about orders

Week of Nov 10

What worked best

  • Recipe posts got the most visits

How to use it

  1. Create the month’s note with "Use this template" and set the channels and how many posts per week are realistic for you.
  2. Whenever you have an idea, drop it into the "Idea bank", without worrying about order.
  3. Once a week, pick ideas from the bank and spread them over next week’s days, with channel and status (idea, draft, in production, published).
  4. When you publish, tick the item and copy it to "Published" with the date. At the end of the month, note what worked best.

Tips

  • Start with a lower frequency than you would like. Keeping two posts a week for months beats five a week for one month.
  • Write each idea as a title, not a topic: "How to store cake so it does not dry out" already says what the post delivers.
  • In a team, put the name of whoever owns each post at the end of the line.
  • For longer drafts, create one subnote per piece (content/november/carrot-cake) and put its address in the calendar.

Reuse your content

A good idea is worth more than one post. A blog post can become an Instagram photo series, a newsletter paragraph and, months later, an updated version. Use last month’s "Published" list as a source: what did well deserves a follow-up, and what nobody saw can come back with a new title or on another channel. With one note per month inside a folder, the whole history stays at hand.
