Habit tracker template

Updated on October 28, 2026

Seeing a streak of ticked boxes is one of the simplest ways to keep a habit going. This tracker has one block per habit, with a checkbox for each day of the week, and a short Sunday review to adjust the next week.

How to use it

  1. Create this week’s note with "Use this template" and replace the sample habits with yours. Start with two or three, five at most.
  2. Write each habit so it can be ticked: "walk for 30 minutes" instead of "exercise".
  3. Every day, open the note and tick the day’s box for each habit you kept. The counter shows how many days you have done.
  4. On Sunday, fill in the review and create next week’s note with your adjustments.

Tips

  • Start small. Reading 10 pages a day builds the habit; reading 50 pages usually lasts three days.
  • Tie the new habit to something you already do: "read after breakfast" is easier to remember than "read at some point".
  • Missed a day? That is fine. The rule that helps most is never to miss two days in a row.
  • Install AnotPad as an app on your phone (button on the home page) to open your habit tracker with one tap.

Tracking over the months

Keep the weekly notes in a folder, such as habits/2026-w46, habits/2026-w47 and so on. After a month, compare the weeks: a habit with almost every box ticked can leave the list, because it has become routine. One that never gets past two days may need to be smaller, move to another time or be swapped for something else. The goal is not a perfect week; it is more ticked days than the month before.
