Bill tracker template
Updated on October 28, 2026
Late fees and interest almost always come from forgetting, not from lacking the money. A list of the month’s bills in due-date order, with a checkbox for what has been paid, solves most of the problem, and calendar reminders take care of the rest.

How to use it
- Create the note with "Use this template" and list every bill for the month, with its due date and amount.
- Put them in date order and split them into blocks (by the 10th, by the 20th, by the end of the month).
- Create a calendar reminder one or two days before the most important bills (⋮ menu › Create reminder).
- When you pay, tap the checkbox. Each block’s counter shows how many bills are left.
Tips
- For the next month, open version history (clock icon) or copy the note: bills repeat and only the amounts change.
- Bills due on a weekend or holiday may have a different deadline. Write the real date next to it.
- The "Bills that do not come every month" section prevents surprises with taxes, tuition and annual fees.
- If the household splits bills, send the link and put the name of whoever pays each one at the end of the line.
Autopay or a list?
Autopay prevents forgetting, but it takes away the moment when you check the amount. A list makes you look at each bill, which helps spot a wrong charge or a price increase that slipped by. Many people combine both: fixed-amount bills on autopay, and the ones that vary (electricity, water, credit card) tracked in the note. Either way, ticking the box when a bill is paid, or when autopay goes through, shows the whole month at once.
Only write the bill’s name, date and amount. Do not keep full payment codes, card numbers, passwords or bank account details.
