Moving checklist split by deadline, with ticked tasks and the list of numbered boxes
The moving checklist by deadline; the "Boxes" section says what is in each numbered box.

How to use it

  1. Create the note with "Use this template" as soon as the moving date is set.
  2. Adjust the tasks to your situation and send the link to your helpers.
  3. Tick each finished task; the counter shows how much is left in each stage.
  4. Use the "Boxes" section to note what goes in each numbered box.

Tips

  • Write only the number and the room on the box; the contents live in the note, where Ctrl+F finds them.
  • Attach the meter photos in the Files tab.
  • Do not write passwords or bank details used to transfer services.

Numbered boxes and moving day

The "Boxes" section is what saves the most time after the move. Write a big number on each box and, in the note, the room and what is inside: "Box 7, kitchen: pots and lids". In the new home, instead of opening ten boxes looking for the charger, you search the note (Ctrl+K) and go straight to the right box. Also pack a "first night" box with sheets, a towel, medicine, chargers, toilet paper and a snack, and keep it with you in the car.

  • Send the link to whoever is helping: each person ticks the tasks they did and everyone sees what is left.
  • Take photos of the electricity, water and gas meter readings on the day you leave and the day you arrive, and attach them in the Files tab.
  • After the move, keep the note for a few weeks: it still reminds you to update your address with banks, stores and documents.
